Stealing Jake

Livy O'Brien is a young woman who lived on the streets of Chicago growing up, doing what she had to in order to survive. Now she is in the small town of Chestnut, Illinois helping run an orphanage and looking for a job to provide for the children in the orphanage. Jake Russell deputy of Chestnut meets Livy and starts falling in love with her. Livy came to Chestnut to find a new start on life and doesn't want anyone to know where she came from or what her life was like in Chicago and she is not looking for a man especially the deputy of the town, but the more she thinks about Jake the more she wants to spend time with him. The street kids of Chestnut have a place in Livy's heart since she has been in their shoes but everyone else just considers them to be a nuisance.

I still haven't finished this book yet I just haven't sat down to just read as much as I would like to. I am enjoying it though and if you like books with a little romance Christian based and some adventure you will probably like this book. This book was a complimentary copy from Tyndale house Publishers to give you my honest review.

A Bride At Last by Melissa Jagears

My Thoughts:

Ms. Kate Dawson, a teacher in Missouri, is very close to her student, Anthony and his mother Lucinda. Lucinda becomes very sick and passes away leaving Kate to take care of nine year old Anthony. Until one day two men show up to take Anthony home, but he would rather stay with Kate. Kate isn't very fond of men, all the men in her life have been abusive to her, can she over come that pain and learn to trust a man again? 

It took me a few chapters to get into this book but it has been a very good book. I love romance books and this is not any different, it has a good amount of romance but not too much to make it unreal. This is the first book I have read by Melissa and didn't realize it was the third in the series until after I got it, even though it's the third in the series it can still stand alone and I have understood it just fine.

I am a stay at home mother on a tiny little farm with a fixer-upper house. As much as I love writing and reading about homesteaders, I am so glad I’m a homesteader during an era with modern grocery stores to take up for my slack. I am an ESL (English as a Second Language) teacher by trade, and I still work occasionally in that field along with being my church’s financial secretary and writing novels.

My husband and I have been married since 2001 and have a daughter and two little boys. My husband shares my fascination with traditional living except for being more hands on. He loves blacksmithing, knife smithing, traditional archery, hunting, etc. Generally whatever a mountain man does, he does it or has or wants to attempt it. He comes in handy for research! And of course, the rest of the family gets involved. I have my own black powder rifle, named Calvin, that my husband made for me. And I’m pretty sure my daughter is probably one of very few her age who can instruct adults how to shoot a longbow properly. The boy digs random holes in my yard to make “cement” with dirt and water making our yard a tripping hazard. The baby does what babies do.
