To Get To You review and GIVEAWAY

Another amazing book by my favorite author, Joanne. This one is just a little different though, if you have read any of her other books or even my reviews of her books you know that she writes a lot of historical fiction. To Get To You is far from historical but its still her writing which makes it great. I don't know what it is about her writing but I've been hooked ever since the first book I read by her.

18 year old Riley Kane has had a rough life. His dad left him and his mom when he was only a child to pursue his surfing career, now Riley has nothing to do with his father. Becca Fletcher is a girl who was home schooled and a lot more sheltered in life than Riley, helping her mom take care of  her siblings not dating or being around a boy without a chaperon. Riley and Becca's lives are totally different but they somehow seem to connect. After Mr. Fletcher had a tragic accident Riley needs to get to Becca finding out her dad was in a bad wreck in Texas she and her family moved their trailer from California to Texas not knowing what was going to happen to her her dad, now Riley is desperate to get to her and do all he can to help. With his Jeep broke down he has to turn to the one person he didn't want to see, his dad. Now he's on a
fourteen hour road trip from California to Texas with his dad in a Volkswagen van. This trip will either be time to reconcile with the man that left him for dreams or it will be a total disaster. At first bitterness takes over in Riley he doesn't want much to do with his father except for them to get to where they are going and him to leave, but as time goes by they grow closer to one another and forgiveness finds its way in.

I don't want to give away too much of the book so I should probably stop here but, if you have read Joanne's books you will not be disappointed with this one, if you have not read her books yet I highly recommend this book as well as her others.

Stealing Jake

Recently I received a copy of the following book in exchange for my honest review. This post will have book purchase advertisement. The FTC requires you to be given a fair warning! Now relax and enjoy the review.

Livy O'Brien is a young woman who lived on the streets of Chicago growing up, doing what she had to in order to survive. Now she is in the small town of Chestnut, Illinois helping run an orphanage and looking for a job to provide for the children in the orphanage. Jake Russell deputy of Chestnut meets Livy and starts falling in love with her. Livy came to Chestnut to find a new start on life and doesn't want anyone to know where she came from or what her life was like in Chicago and she is not looking for a man especially the deputy of the town, but the more she thinks about Jake the more she wants to spend time with him. The street kids of Chestnut have a place in Livy's heart since she has been in their shoes but everyone else just considers them to be a nuisance.

I still haven't finished this book yet I just haven't sat down to just read as much as I would like to. I am enjoying it though and if you like books with a little romance Christian based and some adventure you will probably like this book. This book was a complimentary copy from Tyndale house Publishers to give you my honest review.

About The Author:
CBA Bestselling author Pam Hillman writes inspirational fiction set in the turbulent times of the American West and the Gilded Age.

Born east of the Mississippi and a hundred years too late, Pam still boasts of wrangling calves, milking cows and putting up hay, first as a child, and later with her own personal hero, Iran, on their family farm in Mississippi.

A voracious reader as a child, Pam especially enjoyed stories involving the great Westward expansion, and television shows such as Bonanza, Little House on the Prairie, and Gunsmoke. The western writer, Louis L’Amour, kept Pam mesmerized with his tales of cowboys and Indians, mountain men and outlaws, prim schoolteachers, hot dry deserts, and boom towns.

Pam’s life in the country and her love of the old west bring authenticity to her work and depth to her characters, something that has been recognized many times in the industry through writer’s awards.

Her work has placed in dozens of writer’s contests, including being a four-time finalist in Romance Writers of America’s prestigious Golden Heart contest for unpublished novelists with Claiming Mariah, her second novel, winning the coveted Golden Heart.

As a published novelist, Pam’s books have been recognized by judges of the Inspirational Readers Choice Awards, International Digital Awards, and the EPIC eBook Awards. Claiming Mariah, her second novel, most recently hit the CBA Bestseller lists for November and January. Pam lives in Mississippi with her husband and family.

A Bride At Last by Melissa Jagears

Recently I received a copy of the following book in exchange for my honest review. This post will have book purchase advertisement. The FTC requires you to be given a fair warning! Now relax and enjoy the review.

My Thoughts:

Ms. Kate Dawson, a teacher in Missouri, is very close to her student, Anthony and his mother Lucinda. Lucinda becomes very sick and passes away leaving Kate to take care of nine year old Anthony. Until one day two men show up to take Anthony home, but he would rather stay with Kate. Kate isn't very fond of men, all the men in her life have been abusive to her, can she over come that pain and learn to trust a man again?

It took me a few chapters to get into this book but it has been a very good book. I love romance books and this is not any different, it has a good amount of romance but not too much to make it unreal. This is the first book I have read by Melissa and didn't realize it was the third in the series until after I got it, even though it's the third in the series it can still stand alone and I have understood it just fine.

About Melissa:
I am a stay at home mother on a tiny little farm with a fixer-upper house. As much as I love writing and reading about homesteaders, I am so glad I’m a homesteader during an era with modern grocery stores to take up for my slack. I am an ESL (English as a Second Language) teacher by trade, and I still work occasionally in that field along with being my church’s financial secretary and writing novels.
My husband and I have been married since 2001 and have a daughter and two little boys. My husband shares my fascination with traditional living except for being more hands on. He loves blacksmithing, knife smithing, traditional archery, hunting, etc. Generally whatever a mountain man does, he does it or has or wants to attempt it. He comes in handy for research! And of course, the rest of the family gets involved. I have my own black powder rifle, named Calvin, that my husband made for me. And I’m pretty sure my daughter is probably one of very few her age who can instruct adults how to shoot a longbow properly. The boy digs random holes in my yard to make “cement” with dirt and water making our yard a tripping hazard. The baby does what babies do.

A Worthy Pursuit

A Worthy Pursuit by Karen Witemeyer

Charlotte Antherton was the headmistress of Sullivan's Academy for Exceptional Youths until Mr. Sullivan decided to shut the school down. Now that the school is closed Charlotte will do anything to keep her students safe, especially Lily. Right before Lily's mother passed away she put Lily in Charlotte's care to keep her away from her crooked grandfather. But when Charlotte, Lily and two other students disappear from the academy, Lily's grandfather hires a bounty hunter, Stone Hammond, who never returns empty handed, to bring Lily back. When he finds Charlotte and the children new trouble arises, they could all be in danger including Stone. Charlotte will have to decide to trust this man or worse things could happen to them. This book contains a little bit of everything, it will make you laugh and make you cry and you will be on the edge of you chair waiting to turn the next page. When I read Karen's books I always fell like I am on of the characters in the book I don't want to put it down.

If you would like to read this book you can get it from Amazon as well as Christian Book. If you would like to go to Karen's website just click here.

About Karen
After growing up in California, Karen moved to Texas to attend Abilene Christian University where she earned bachelor and master's degrees in Psychology. It was also there that she met and married her own Texas hero. He roped her in good, for she has lived in Texas ever since. In fact, she fell so in love with this rugged land of sweeping sunsets and enduring pioneer spirit, that she incorporates it into the pages of her novels, setting her stories in the small towns of a state that burgeoned into greatness in the mid- to late 1800s.
A life-long bookworm, Karen is living her dream by writing novels. Her books have consistently hit bestseller lists and have garnered awards such as the ACFW Carol Award, the Holt Medallion, and the Christian Manifesto's Lime Award for Excellence in Fiction. In addition, she is a multiple RITA and National Reader's Choice finalist. Karen is also a sought-after speaker for national writing conferences and regional workshops.

This quiet sky

This is a novella written by Joanne Bischof, she just happens to be one  of my favorite  authors

I got this book as an audio book on audible to review for Joanne it was such a good book I plan on getting a paperback copy as well

Another amazing historical romance by Joanne  This story is mostly about 16 year old Sarah Miller and 17 year old Tucker O'shay. Sarah has just moved to Rocky knob, Virginia from South Carolina, unlike most girls her age she still goes to the one room school house. there are only two students in the higher grades, her and Tucker O'shay, who plans to take the college exams in the fall. Sarah doesn't feel like she is smart enough to take the college exams and doesn't really want to her parents don't have enough money to send her to college and that's not really for girls anyway is it? Most of the students are scared of Tucker they say he has a contagious disease and are afraid to get too close. But Sarah is fascinated with Tucker and they become friends. Tucker starts tutoring Sarah in algebra because she isn't very good at it. Between Tucker and Sarah's friendship and the tutoring a love blossoms and they don't even realize it. Only when Tucker isn't at school for a couple days does Sarah start to realize the she is fond of him. I better not right much more or I will give it all away. If this has interested you at all I hope you will find this book and read it I actually got my paperback copy in the mail today and plan on reading it even though i have already listened to the audio book three times.

Words cannot describe how great this book is. Considering I have listened to it three times and still bought the paperback may shed some light on how much I really did enjoy this book. You will just have to read it for yourself to get the full experience, you will laugh with the characters and you will cry with them so you may want a few tissues around and you may also laugh until you cry. :)

Joanne has other books also I would encourage you to look up and read. The Cadence of Grace series is probably my absolute favorite, they are historical fiction as well. Joanne also has a new book coming out called To Get To You it is actually a contemporary fiction.
